BBC Radio Glos – The Hidden Forest
Published: 31st May 2017
As part of BBC Radio Gloucestershire’s ‘The Hidden Forest’ project we were pleased to welcome a small group of locals led by BBC presenter, Mark Cummings and tourism guide, Pat Lacy to our stoneworks.
Our managing director, Nick Horton hosted a brief tour of Bixslade Stoneworks, describing our operation and answering questions. The visit was recorded and will be broadcast on BBC Radio Gloucestershire later this month.
The visitors were also encouraged to share their own experiences of the stoneworks and Cannop Ponds; from a courting couple in the 1960s to the filming of a B-movie in the late 1970s.
‘The Hidden Forest’ introduces listeners to places and people from across the Forest of Dean. The tour group travelled around the Forest to ‘sights’ and points of interest that they might normally drive by and miss.
Thank you to Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism for arranging the visit.
