Lydbrook Music Festival
Published: 15th June 2017
Last weekend saw the very first Lydbrook Music Festival take place, presented by Lydbrook Band in association with Lydbrook Parish Church. As sponsor of the brass band we were proud to support such a prestigious event.
The festival included recitals, a Welsh evening with special guests and the Lydbrook Band finale on the Sunday. The opening night saw performances from Gary Seiling on organ and Jemima Phillips on an acoustic electric harp! The evening drew to a close with a duet.
On Saturday, the festival celebrated the music of Wales with the Porthcawl Male Choir and singer, Osian Griffiths. The evening’s star attraction was Welsh tenor, Wynne Evans, best known for his role as Gio Compario in the Go Compare adverts!
The finale of the music festival saw Lydbrook Training Band and Senior Band take to the stage. This included a performance of Silver Rose, a specially commissioned piece to commemorate the end of World War One, written by the band’s composer-in-residence, Liz Lane. This also featured Donna Lennard, an international soprano vocalist.
